Help your students to learn more about their day off school and who Martin Luther King Jr. was by reading a personal story about him, having a classroom discussion and then participating in this art activity. Once finished, students will see a different perspective and that sometimes all you can see is just your little piece of life, but when you connect with others and put all the pieces together you can see the whole picture. Another lesson you can use is one persons little bit of perspective changes when we step out and see the whole picture.
Description
Help your students to learn more about their day off school and who Martin Luther King Jr. was by reading a personal story about him, having a classroom discussion and then participating in this art activity.
Once finished, students will see a different perspective and that sometimes all you can see is just your little piece of life, but when you connect with others and put all the pieces together you can see the whole picture. Another lesson you can use is one persons little bit of perspective changes when we step out and see the whole picture.
Can this be done virtually? Yes, the one tricky part is that the students would need to email you their picture, then you would need to put all their pictures together into a document or print them out. But I think it would be really cool.
I like to do this activity on the Friday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day
This is an easy Print and Go resource.

HOW IT WORKS
You will use the template included and cut up the pieces. Number them and hand them out to your students. Then give them a larger square piece of white paper and they will draw to enlarge their little piece. Once colored, all the pieces will be put back together to make a large poster of Martin Luther King, Jr. all drawn by different classmates. All instructions and templates are included.
Have fun!
As always, please contact me with any questions.
Thank you so much,
